Showings and Open Houses
Getting your first showing can be very exciting. As tempting as it may be to stay in your home during a showing or open house it is better if you leave. Buyers tend to be more comfortable and talk more candidly about the house if the owners are not present. To schedule a showing the buyers agent will call your agent and arrange a time to view your house. Your agent may also choose to host an open house for casual lookers to view your home. For either a showing or open house there are some things you can do to make your home more attractive:
- Make all the beds neatly
- Put away the kids toys
- Keep pet areas clean and free of stray food and litter
- Bake a loaf of bread or some cookies to make your house smell great
- Set the table with pretty place settings
- Place fresh cut flowers in the dining room
- Light candles in the bathrooms and bedrooms
- Sweep the floor just before you leave
- Straighten up rugs and the couch cushions
- Remove personal items from all surfaces
- Scour the sinks and wipe down countertops
After you have left your home in the hands of a buyers agent, try to relax and enjoy your time away. If your home is priced right, it won't be long before the offers start coming in!
